Days of Learning

Our very first social media campaign called Days of Learning, was an opportunity to use our social media platforms to share informative and educational material on Human Rights, and to also celebrate a month full of various specific international rights days leading up to International Human Rights Day on the 10th of December.

International days are occasions to educate the public on issues of concern, to mobilize political will and resources to address global problems, and to celebrate and reinforce achievements of humanity. The existence of international days predates the establishment of the United Nations, but the UN has embraced them as a powerful advocacy tool. Our plans was to do exactly this!

During the campaign the website and our social media accounts were used as platforms to publish full articles and social media materials with relevant local and international information dealing with the following days:

Human Rights ideals are only made possible with the collaboration of all members of society. In order for a community to make sense of Human Rights norms, Joseph Slaughter holds that they have to be ‘imaginable and articulable’ in the minds not just of policy makers, but of everyone else too.

The MHREC’s goal for this campaign was to provide a practical and understandable approach to the sharing of Human Rights issues that everyone can learn, or benefit from. We truly believe that Human Rights education can effectively result in better accessibility of Human Rights in society. We think that this campaign provided an initial opportunity for learning, healthy discussions and was a successful start to MHREC’s goals and dreams.
