This week MHREC is holding its Culture Connect event! Between the 23rd and 30th June 2023 friends, family and public are being invited to support MHREC by participating in a cultural activity to remind everyone just how important the right to to take part or participate in cultural life truly is. Please do sign up here.
With this in mind, over the next few days we will be sharing information on Human Rights and culture to showcase their importance!
Here at MHREC we too will be visiting and participating in cultural activities over the new week. There are many options depending on your availabilities, transport, age, accessibility and budget.
For some inspiration, check out the below:
- Head to your local Library or Book Store: Books allow us to express our vision of the future; remind us of the past, and bring the world to us be they nonfiction or fiction books.
- Visit a Museum: Explore one of the museums and admire the paintings, sculptures, artifacts, or interactive exhibits while learning about different cultures and time periods.
- Watch a Theatre Performance: Attend a play, musical etc at a local theater. Immerse yourself in the world of performing arts.
- Catch a Film Festival: Experience diverse storytelling and cinematography from various cultures and perspectives.
- Listen to live music at a Gig or Concert: Grab a bite to eat or a drink at a local pub with a band playing or alternatively check out if there are any concerts happening.
- Join in the cheer at the local festa: If you are in Malta, you will be spoilt for choice.
- See the sights at a Historical Site: Explore historical landmarks in your town, check out ancient ruins. These sits have significant historical importance and teach us about past civilizations and culture.
- Explore your town: Explore local shops, restaurants, markets, religious buildings and community centers to experience the unique atmosphere and traditions.
Why don’t you check out your Facebook events tab or else local newspapers or news portals for an overview of ongoing cultural activities? Remember, here at MHREC we are encouraging this week to be an opportunity to see the sites, hear the sounds, appreciate the history and that doesn’t necessarily means you need to pay.
Here at MHREC we cannot wait to receive your pictures. You can still sign up here. Don’t delay.
Check in over the next few days for more information on human rights, and culture! In the meantime check out the following related Culture Connect posts:
