MHREC Movie Night: Why should you join us on 4th May?

As you may know, MHREC are organising a fundraising Movie night! On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, join MHREC for a viewing of Newsies.

Ahead of this exciting event, check out some reasons why you should join us on Sunday 4th May at 18:45 at MCVS Volunteer Centre, Valletta!

Celebrate – Watch a song and dance about standing up for the truth, making it the perfect film to highlight the importance of a free press and independent journalism.

Engage – Join a discussion on press freedom, censorship, and media rights, connecting the film’s themes to today’s world.

Enjoy Free Popcorn & a Soft Drink – What is a movie night without snacks? All attendees will get complimentary popcorn and a soft drink!

Be Inspired by a True Story – It’s not all song and dance! It is based on the real-life 1899 newsboys’ strike in New York, where young workers took a stand against media giants. It’s a powerful story of activism and resilience.

Support Human Rights Education – By attending, you’re helping to promote awareness of press freedom and the role of media in upholding democracy and human rights.
