Model International Criminal Court: Malta School Session 2023 – Rachel

Participating in the Model International Criminal Court (MICC) was an enriching and rewarding experience for me. This experience allowed me to learn more about international criminal law in an immersive way. My role as a prosecutor in the my assigned case helped me gain a practical understanding of the challenges involved in prosecuting individuals for serious offences.

One of the highlights for me was the workshops which explored human rights through different exercises. Apart from this, learning about the historical context of the case I was simulating was also very helpful in understanding my role and deepened my appreciation for international criminal law.

This experience has also strengthened my skills in public speaking, effective communication, and collaborative teamwork.

Beyond the legal aspects, MICC also provided an opportunity to build connections with fellow participants who share similar interests.

Keep an eye out on the next post in this series to learn more about Laura’s experience.
