During the past week, two of our volunteers, Hazel and Iella have been participating in a training course on Youth Work Essentials+ . Read all about their ongoing experience here:
The training course Youth Work Essentials+ is currently taking place in Brežice, Slovenia. Bringing together a total of 30 participants with 4 trainers, the objectives of the training include building a common understanding of youth work and non formal education in the Erasmus+ framework within the group of participants. Participants were able to present, experience and discuss different learning models while exploring the intercultural context in youth work.
Focus has been especially made on non violent communication and on the importance of youth work self care. All very relevant topics for today’s changing world. During the week and a half, all participants are involved in the designing, implementation and reflection of pilot youth worker activities.
The host organisation, Društvo Lojtra, has years of experience. In fact they were one of the first Erasmus+ accredited organizations in Slovenia, in the field of youth. They have received a global UNESCO APCEIU award for their methodology of creating learning spaces on the streets, involving theater, exhibition, role-play, etc. Street animation and theater in youth work are two of the approaches they use regularly when working with young people.
Check back next week to read the second and final part of Hazel and Iella’s participation in Youth Work Essentials+ in Brežice, Slovenia.
