Every year on the 10th of December, the world celebrates Human Rights Day, as a reminder that in 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).
Our very first social media campaign in 2020 was called Days of Learning. This campaign was an opportunity to use our social media platforms to share informative and educational material on Human Rights, and also celebrate a month full of various specific international rights days leading up to International Human Rights Day on the 10th of December. The UDHR consists of a preamble and 30 articles that detail a range of fundamental human rights and freedoms to which all of us are entitled. It guarantees our rights without distinction of nationality, place of residence, gender, national or ethnic origin, religion, language, or any other status.
The 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights will be celebrated next year on the 10th of December 2023. Ahead of this milestone celebration, starting on this year’s Human Rights Day, the UN launched a year-long campaign to showcase the UDHR by focusing on its legacy, relevance and activism. At MHREC, we strive to emphasize the relevance of the UDHR in all that we do in our everyday life.
MHREC members attended NWAMI International Malta Interactive Education Session on Climate Change & Pollution as part of their ‘Together We Strive’ Project. We discussed the social impacts of climate change & how we as individuals and communities can make a change with a human rights approach.
